Meet your next attorney
CJ is a passionate and dedicated attorney, focused on seeking justice for those whose rights were violated.
After 21 years in the Army as a Senior Counterintelligence Special Agent and 15 years of activism, God intervened in my life and redirected me to attend law school. I could have easily just retired and enjoyed a stress-free life. Instead, I went to and graduated from the Appalachian School of Law with honors in the mountains of Southwest Virginia, then decided to open my own firm so that I could take a personal interest in my client’s cases.
As someone who has been the target of bad law enforcement and government, I know firsthand the stress and frustration of being falsely arrested and accused of criminal activity. As a gun rights activist, I’ve been falsely arrested/charged five times, to include allegations of felony crimes. I saw firsthand how hard it was to find good attorneys that saw me as an innocent person instead of a source of income. Too many in our field just want to drag out a plea deal and move on to the next client. I want to help prove your innocence!
I’ve been in the trenches: literally and figuratively. I served in the lead element of the 3rd Infantry Division in March 2003 for the invasion of Iraq with 3/7 Cavalry. I fought my way to Baghdad and then to Fallujah with 3-15 Infantry. I was awarded a Bronze Star Medal with Valor for actions in repelling an ambush from an Iraqi trenchline. I never gave up when the odds were against me. I won’t give up simply because the odds are against you. Then, I served with the 504th Battlefield Surveillance Brigrade in Kandahar Afghanistan in 2011 as the Brigade Liaison with ISAF. During my time in Kandahar, I endured over 120 mortar attacks and managed casualty transportation into and out of theater. I also streamlined the linguist program to save taxpayers over $50,000 per month in wasted pay for linguists sitting on their ass, not providing any services to our frontline troops.
Likewise, after my first arrest for lawful carry of a firearm, I didn’t give up. Instead, I founded the Texas-based Open Carry Texas, a grassroots civil rights organization dedicated to protecting and demanding respect for our God-given rights protected under the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Texas. I took the fight to the legislature and together with thousands of fellow Texans helped to get open carry, campus carry, and constitutional carry legislation passed. Over the past eleven years, I’ve had to endure another three arrests in defense of these rights and successfully fought to get all the charges dismissed.
Unfortunately, the fight was harder than it should have been. Finding local attorneys willing to stand up to a system with unlimited resources and the ability to ruin our lives to make a political point was no easy task. After my third false arrest during which I was tazered and suffered major head trauma that causes migraines to this day, I decided that my destiny was to become an attorney to help people like me: innocent people being run over by out of control government officials who have an inflated sense of their authority and power over free citizens. Thankfully, I was able to find amazing attorneys that showed me what a good attorney who was willing to take a stand for liberty looks like.
I’m a father to three awesome, successful children and three amazing grandchildren. I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart since 1995 (together since 1992). I was born in Texas, raised in a military environment, and spent my summers growing up working on my family’s farm in Temple, Texas. Hard work comes naturally to me. I’m a disabled veteran whose oath to support and defend the Constitution will never expire and is not for sale or up for debate.
Liberty is worth the fight! When justice needs a hero, you need a heroic attorney!
